It is always a well determined number of shares that make up a closed-end fund. These can be found on the exchange market, and the buyer may usually acquire these shares from a professional broker. The opposite of a closed-end fund is the open end fund, where the investor has more freedom in purchasing the shares. The price of the shares typically fluctuates, depending how many investors wish to buy the respective share. The smaller the number of the potential investors for a certain share, the lower the price of it and the greater the competition among investors, the higher the price of these shares can raise. Closed-end funds can generally be found in European countries like France or Italy and UK (the so called investment trusts). |
