The current yield is a typical expression used to denote a certain ratio when there are bond or other investment tools involved. This ratio can be calculated by dividing the annual interest payment by the clean price of the respective share. This calculation is used in order to see the rate of profitability when dividends are involved (5%, 10%, and so on). One can calculate the current yield for a bond with a value of $100, a coupon rate of 6% which sells at $90 (100 x 6% / 90 = $6/ 90 = 6, 66%). |
